How do I purchase a package?

To purchase a package, you may click on the “Buy a Package” button on the righthand menu of your Dashboard.

A 6 percent discount will be applied if you top up ₹6000 to ₹11,999, and an eight percent discount will be applied if you top up ₹12,000 to ₹50,000.

The discount is meant to encourage clients to commit to long-term therapy, where necessary. 

How many therapy sessions should I have?

In the beginning, you can consider going to therapy once a week. Weekly sessions build consistency, which can be helpful for you when you first start therapy.

Attending sessions once a week improves one’s emotional safety (Cameron, 2018) and allows one to establish trust and rapport with one’s therapist (Hall, 2020).

This enables one to progress steadily and ensures that during sessions, time can be efficiently used to work through one’s issues, rather than spent updating the therapist about what has happened in the last few weeks. 

Besides, recent findings show that after going for an average of 8 sessions (Foundation Psychology; Saxon et al., 2016), individuals experience the greatest relief from psychological distress and positive changes in their lives.

It is also worth noting that those who withdraw within or shortly after three sessions are less likely to achieve positive outcomes, as things usually begin to improve after the third session (Crago & Gardner, 2012).

Nonetheless, therapy is a commitment of both your time and money. It may be best to discuss with your Therapist and develop a plan or routine that suits you. 

Is online counselling effective?

Many studies have shown that online counselling is just as effective as in-person counselling in terms of improving one’s overall well-being and equipping one with coping methods to manage one’s challenges.

Being able to attend sessions from the comfort of one’s home has often made it easier for one to commit to seeking support and open up about one’s circumstances, thereby contributing to greater therapeutic efficacy.

Nonetheless, it’s important to note that how well online counselling works often varies among individuals and depends on the nature of one’s issues, the fit and rapport with one’s Therapist, and the work one puts in.

In addition, online counselling may not be appropriate if one:
  • is in a crisis;
  • suffering from a psychiatric disorder and / or experiencing psychosis such as hallucinations, delusions, or paranoia;
  • experiences severe or long-term mental health illness; and
  • engages in excessively risky behaviours such as heavy alcohol or drug use.
Persons experiencing the above may wish to see a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist in-person for more immediate and direct support.
How can I reschedule / cancel my session?

Talk Your Heart Out (TYHO) has a minimum 24-hour rescheduling / cancellation policy. We do not accept rescheduling or cancellation requests within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time to be fair to our Therapists who have blocked out time for sessions.

Any payments made towards such appointments will be non-refundable.

Prior to this timeframe, you can reschedule or cancel your session directly via the platform.

To do so, please sign into your Dashboard and scroll down to your upcoming sessions.

  • If you click on “Reschedule”: You will be able to select another slot from your Therapist’s calendar.
  • If you click on “Cancel”: The payment made will be refunded to your TYHO wallet as credits.
  • If you applied a discount code, the usage would be reversed accordingly.
