About TYHO Psychologists in Hong Kong

TYHO psychologists in Hong Kong are clinically trained to provide support for a wide range of issues.

Through assessments and observation, a clinical psychologist can help identify and address:

Our team includes highly qualified and expert psychologists. We only work with professionals who meet our high standards. Hence, we assess professionals for clinical expertise, qualifications, soft skills and values.

Evaluation of your interpersonal skills, personality traits, and cognitive abilities is conducted through diagnostic tests.

This process is known as a ‘diagnosis’ and may help you identify any underlying mental health conditions.

Our Approach to Therapy

At TYHO, you may receive a therapeutic plan to assess and track your therapy goals.

A therapeutic plan is a roadmap which includes details such as interventions, objectives, therapy homework, and approaches that your Therapist will use in Hong Kong.

We implement this approach to provide you with clear directions and intentions for the therapeutic process. Through talk therapy, you may also identify specific areas of life that you may need help with.

We believe that every client can overcome their problems through professional support and, ultimately, through self-reliance.

Hence, when you start therapy with us, you will regularly evaluate and adjust the plan to suit your needs and work with your psychologist consistently to commit to your goals.

Your psychologist may use one or multiple types of interventions. The tools you acquire from therapy may depend on your unique circumstances.

Common therapeutic approaches used by TYHO psychologists include:

Find a Clinical Psychologist

Finding a clinical psychologist at TYHO requires you to follow 2 simple steps:

  • Identify your goals
  • Review psychologist profiles

When you create a profile with our platform, you will be asked to fill out an Intake Form. The form may request your details and presenting issues.

To identify your issues, try to create two columns. In column 1, list all the problems you are facing in daily life. Perhaps you’re struggling to carry out regular activities like bathing or cooking, or maybe you feel anxious talking to your friends or colleagues.

In column 2, list if you suspect that you may have any mental health condition. These could include anxiety, depression, ADHD, phobia, and so on.

For the next step, visit as many psychologist profiles as possible. Review a professional’s background, expertise, issues they can help with, therapeutic approaches, and therapy style.

Refer to your lists to shortlist a few psychologists. Book an initial counselling session to gauge your interest.

If the match isn’t quite right, feel free to look for someone else. You can also contact us via WhatsApp (click the icon on the bottom right) if you have any questions!

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a therapist and a psychologist?

At TYHO, we use the term ‘Therapists’ to refer to all professionals, including psychologists and counsellors.

TYHO Therapists and psychologists have similar qualifications and expertise. Hence, you do not have to worry about looking for someone specific on our platform.

However, it is worth noting that psychologists can conduct diagnostic assessments. If you want to get diagnosed, we suggest you look for a psychologist in Hong Kong.

Rest assured, all professionals at TYHO can assist you with whatever problems you want to overcome.

Is it worth getting a psychologist?

Yes, it is worth getting a psychologist.

Regardless of what problem you are going through, a psychologist can help you:

  • Gain clarity in life
  • Learn clinical tools to overcome conflicts and hurdles
  • Manage your emotions and mood swings
  • Deal with work or family stress
  • Understand and process grief
  • Be your authentic self
  • Make new friends and develop meaningful relationships
When should I go to a psychologist?

You should seek help from a psychologist if you:

  • Find it hard to function in daily life
  • Struggle with stress and depression
  • Need help managing your emotions
  • Would like to gain more clarity and purpose in life
  • Want to maintain or fix any interpersonal relationships

Besides the above points, psychologists can help you better understand yourself and the world.

Hence, you do not have to struggle with something major to seek help.

Therapy can be helpful for everyone. Seeking help at an early stage means that you will learn conflict-resolution skills as a preventative tool.

How often should you see a psychologist?

At TYHO, our clients usually book sessions once a week. This frequency allows them to maintain rapport with their psychologist and better understand their issues.

However, you can decide on the frequency of therapy sessions with your psychologist.

Some questions to consider are:

  • How many hours a month can you allocate for therapy?
  • How much can you spend in a month for your mental well-being?
  • When and how long are you free per month?

Based on the above questions and the intensity of your issues, your psychologist may recommend a frequency.

Feel free to discuss the frequency and style of therapy to adjust your needs and expectations.

Will everything I tell my Hong Kong Therapist be confidential?

Yes, all therapy sessions on TYHO are highly confidential.

We implement strong policies to guarantee that all the therapy information you share will remain between you and your Therapist.

The only exception to confidentiality arises if the Therapist observes that you may be at risk of harming yourself or others.

In such cases, your Therapist is obliged to reach out to your emergency contact to mitigate the crisis.
